(and.. just to hopefully put the brakes on ANY possible future comments: yes, I made Belle Chere aware that I was taking her picture from behind. yes, i have other over-the-shoulder-full-body-pictures of her looking right into my camera to prove it. yes, the paparazzi were just as important to the composition of this image as the 2 cosplayers, hence the title “The Cosplay View”, noting how both cosplayers AND photgraphers see the cosplay world. yes, i’ll admit, her beautiful pose from behind was what got me back there in the first place. yes, i think belle chere is one of the two (3?) greatest cosplayers showcasing their art today… thank you)

And I’ll immediately pipe up to say, yes, I knew he was there. As I recall, he explained what he was trying to capture (a photog shooting photogs), and was quite polite in asking permission. This is exactly what to do.
Also, Taki is portrayed by Miss Sinister Cosplay! Also, thank you, sir, for the compliments!
Aaaand I’m pretty sure I’ll be the only one sitting here thinking: “I forgot to consider that the lift of my arms would lift the jacket so high. Patterning fail.”

Taki VS Ivy - Battle One - FIGHT!Miss Sinister Cosplay as Taki, myself (BelleChere) as Ivy Valentine.
It was hot as balls (which is 94F, FYI) that day in Atlanta, but I’m so glad we did this photoshoot! I always get hit with the giggles when trying to be all serious, ‘fighting’ someone and making such direct eye contact - the next photo in the ‘shoot is me cracking up. Thanks to Eurobeat Kasumi Photography for braving the heat with us and doing this photoshoot!

Sorry I haven’t been posting lately! I was busy in Taiwan, with my new friend and cosplaying buddy illiara! We had an adventure. It was a crazy time, courtesy of ModelMosa, and I’ll be posting pics of my trip over on FB.
This is us at Fancy Frontier convention in Taipei, Taiwan.

Best Cosplay Ever (This Week) - 01.28.13
By Bethany Fong
Although cosplay has been present for decades within the comics, anime, and sci-fi/fantasy fandoms, social media has played an integral role in the thriving community of costuming that exists today and cosplay communities such as Cosplay.com and the Superhero Costuming Forum. In honor of the many fans who’ve displayed excellence in the mastery of homemade disguise, craftsmanship, and sartorial superheroics, ComicsAlliance has created Best Cosplay Ever (This Week), a weekly collection of some of the most impeccable, creative, and clever costumes that we’ve discovered and assembled into our own super-showcase of pure fan-devoted talent.
Check out this week’s round-up of the Best Cosplay Ever on ComicsAlliance, featuring Gambit, Peter Pan, Power Girl, Kitty Pryde & Wolverine (above) and more!

Thank you for featuring me and my friend Miss Sinister, CA! I’m always surprised to be, and it makes my day.
I would, however, like to post the photo that was taken maybe 2 seconds after the one you guys used, cause it showcases the costumes better, has better lighting, and is more attractive.

It’s all about the angles!

2012 - A Year in Review - Costuming!

Here are the scant few new costumes (and an oldie but goodie) I made this year. 2012 has been a helluva year. Due to personal troubles, costuming unfortunately had to take the back burner more often than I would have liked. I’m looking forward to making up for what I missed out on in 2013!

Plans are already being made regarding costumes and conventions for 2013, and it’s looking like it’s going to be a very promising year. Prospective costumes include: Mad Moxxie (BL2), Diva Plavalaguna, Promethea (the first comics I ever got my hands on!), and Witchblade, Ame-Comi Power Girl, and Risti (Queen’s Blade) are still on the docket. I’ll make a post of conventions once I have things a little more set in stone, and once a few cons confirm that I’ll be their guest!

Cheers to a new year!

BelleChere as Ivy Valentine

Series: Soul Calibur V

Debuted: Dragon*Con 2012

Photos by: Nathan Carter

I think it’s hilarious that someone created a fan Tumblr for my costuming. Not only that, but they’re quick with the posting! Much more regular than I am.

Here’s my Isabella Valentine from Soul Calibur V, photos taken at DragonCon 2012!

Ivy’s secondary costume for Soul Calibur V. I’m getting a Fem-Shocker vibe from it…but, still - UNF.
I gotta get started on her primary costume. I just have three other costumes currently in the works, gah!

Ivy Valentine by BelleChere,

Sometimes I discover that pictures of me are floating around the internet. I’ve been costuming for six years and, to be honest, it still feels strange that people share my stuff.
